**The project**

**An AI infrastructure to support COOPI's processes**

Gnucoop has started a technology partnership with COOPI - Cooperazione Internazionale to introduce artificial intelligence tools that support the organization's internal processes. The project grew out of a training course on Generative AI and a needs analysis carried out together with the Administration, HR, Management Control and Project Office departments, which showed the need to automate activities that are currently done manually.

The chosen approach does not involve supplying closed software, but building a proprietary infrastructure, an AI API hub, accompanied by training and continuous support. Gnucoop develops the complex services (reading and interpreting documents, transcription, data analysis) and exposes them as APIs; COOPI's IT team integrates them into its existing systems, supported by Gnucoop through training on agentic coding.

Features under development include: automatic interpretation of documents and bank statements, a chatbot to query internal data, support for checking procedures and searching for anomalies across management systems, as well as tools for the quantitative analysis of project monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) data and for the automatic monitoring of calls for proposals relevant to the organization.

The project is organized on a multi-year plan, designed to be sustainable both economically and operationally, without overloading COOPI's internal IT department but strengthening it with ready-to-use tools.
